Thousands of troops help people brace for storm
PANO - More than 7,000 soldiers from military units are assisting local people in responding to Storm Wipha, the third to hit Vietnam this year.
Accordingly, the Military Region 3 Command mobilized more than 11,000 troops and 236 vehicles to be ready for disaster relief, search and rescue missions, and dispatched troops to request locals in aquatic farms at sea to return to the mainland, and helped local people reinforce their houses, dock their boats in safe shelters.
The Vietnam People’s Navy has directed its units to closely monitor movements of the storm, draw up plans and prepare assets and forces for disaster relief, search and rescue missions.
