While this strategic route promotes socio-economic development and trade, it has also become a hotspot for smuggling, drug trafficking, and violations of border security.
Regarding drug-related crimes, ringleaders often remain hidden, orchestrating smuggling routes by collaborating with individuals familiar with the terrain and border paths. In smuggling activities, perpetrators typically camouflage illicit goods among legitimate cargo or disguise them as consigned items.
Aware of these tactics, the Tay Ninh Provincial Border Guard Command stepped up patrols in 2024 and successfully handled 10 criminal cases. Since the beginning of 2024, the unit has conducted five major investigations and 16 operational plans, detecting and addressing 21 cases involving 22 individuals, among others.
To effectively perform their duties, the unit’s leadership has prioritized education and information dissemination among troops and thoroughly implemented Party resolutions and State laws, to name a few.

The Party Committee and chain of command of the Tay Ninh Provincial Border Guard Command regularly issue directives, launch campaigns, and develop plans based on the actual situation. They have also increased inspections, conducted evaluations, and devised measures to improve coordination quality in their areas of responsibility.
The unit has particularly enhanced cooperation in handling complex tasks such as anti-drug and anti-smuggling operations.
According to Senior Colonel Le Van Vy, Commander of the Tay Ninh Provincial Border Guard Command, the unit places great emphasis on coordination during investigations and judicial procedures. “Our goal is to ensure that criminals are prosecuted quickly and justly. This is especially important when expanding investigations and dismantling criminal networks,” he noted.

The unit has also established hotlines to facilitate rapid information exchange and coordination during investigations. This measure allows for swift response and prompt arrest of suspects.
Moreover, the border unit cooperates closely with local authorities to prevent and combat crime through public education, training programs, and job creation initiatives for former offenders and at-risk individuals. These efforts contribute to building a strong all-people border defense posture.
