Dak Lak inaugurates “Uncle Ho and border guards” monument
PANO - On May 20, a working delegation from the Standing Boards of the Dak Lak provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees of Dak Lak and Phu Yen provinces offered incense in remembrance of heroic martyrs and attended the inauguration ceremony of the “Uncle Ho and border guards” monument.

At the memorial stele honoring heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the area of the Serepok and Ea H’Leo Border Posts, in a solemn and emotional atmosphere, delegates respectfully offered incense and expressed their profound gratitude for the great sacrifices of the martyrs.
On the same day, the delegation attended the inauguration of the “Uncle Ho and border guards” monument at the Ea H’Leo Border Post.
The bust “Uncle Ho and border guards” is adapted by the sculpture “Following the nation” by Vu Trong Khoi featuring Uncle Ho caringly asking the border guards to show high determination to defend the country while the border guards attentively listening to each word of the state leader. The statue is carved from Non Nuoc natural stone sourced from the Quy Hop quarry in Nghe An province, weighing approximately 4.5 tons and standing 3.98 meters tall. The total construction cost exceeded VND 400 million, supported by the Dak Lak provincial Police Department.

Speaking at the ceremony, Senior Colonel Dao Viet Hung, Commanding Officer of the Dak Lak provincial Border Guard Command, emphasized that the monument holds deep meaning, expressing the affection of the force’s officers and soldiers for their beloved Uncle Ho.
The monument contributes to building a bright, green, clean, and beautiful cultural environment for the unit, becoming a “cultural spotlight” in the border area, encouraging and motivating border guards to overcome difficulties, promote solidarity, and firmly protect the national sovereignty and border security.

On this occasion, the delegation also visited the historical site of the Serepok River Ferry Crossing and presented gifts to troops of the Serepok and Ea H’Leo Border Posts.
