Sick fisherman brought ashore by military aircraft
PANO – At 15:20 of September 21, a DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft of Bridge 954 of the Naval Service landed at Cam Ranh Airport (Khanh Hoa province), successfully bringing a patient from a Truong Sa (Spratly) island to shore.
Earlier, on September 18, fisherman Nguyen Hoa of trawler QNg-95769TS suffered a stomachache while fishing at sea. He was then transferred to Phan Vinh Island (Pearson Reef) of Truong Sa island district, Khanh Hoa province.

However, due to his critical situation, on-duty Ship 466 of the Naval Region 4 brought Hoa to the district’s Truong Sa townlet infirmary. Doctors there concluded that the patient had a pleural effusion.
At noon of September 21, the DHC-6 aircraft, with three doctors and one relative of the patient on board, received this case and then flied him ashore and handed him over to Military Hospital 87 under the General Department of Logistics for further treatment.
