Emergency treatment for fisherman with appendicitis at sea
PANO - On July 24, Phan Vinh Island Infirmary promptly received and provided emergency treatment to a distressed fisherman in the waters of Truong Sa district, Khanh Hoa province.
Earlier, around 10a.m. on July 23, while fishing about 5 nautical miles from Phan Vinh Island, fisherman Bui Duy Tan from Quang Ngai province experienced severe pain in the lower right abdomen. He was brought to Phan Vinh Island for emergency treatment by his fellow fishermen on the fishing boat QNg 90962 TS.

After a medical examination, the military doctors at Phan Vinh Island Infirmary diagnosed the patient with acute appendicitis that had been going on for about 20 hours. They immediately proceeded with an appendectomy to remove the inflamed appendix. The surgery was successful, and after one hour of recovery, the patient's condition was stabilized. He will continue to be monitored by the doctors at Phan Vinh Island Infirmary.
Furthermore, on July 24, Naval Region 4 conducted the handover of fisherman Tran Van Canh, 48 years old, from Hoai Nhon town, Binh Dinh province, to his family and local authorities. Previously, fisherman Canh had suffered from a work-related accident while fishing at sea.
