The activity was in celebration of the 78th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army (December 22, 1944-2022), 33 years of the All People’s Defense Festive Day (December 22, 1989-2022), and 50 years of the “Hanoi - Dien Bien Phu in the air” Victory (December 1972-2022).

The delegation paid tribute to General Vo Nguyen Giap at the High Command’s Office Relic Site in Bao Bien hamlet, Bao Linh commune, Dinh Hoa district. It was the place where General Vo Nguyen Giap worked and lived between 1949 and 1954. It was also the place where the general, the Central Military Commission and the High Command devised and decided important military plans, contributing to the victory of the resistance war against the French colonialists.

Also in Dinh Bien commune, the delegation offered incense in tribute to General Hoang Van Thai, the first chief of the General Staff (GS) of the Vietnam People’s Army, and other heroic martyrs, and former GS leaders at Nam Cua (Five Gates) Trench Relic Site where the GS headquarters was in the resistance war against the French colonialists.

On the occasion, the delegation presented 30 gifts, each worth VND 1.5 million, to local policy beneficiaries in need.

During these events, Senior Lieutenant General Do Can confirmed that such “returning-to-the-root” activities in Dinh Hoa district demonstrated the national tradition of “When drinking water, remember its source,” the sentiments, responsibility, respect and gratitude of troops of the General Department of Political Affairs’ Organs to local party committee, authorities, and people for their whole-hearted support in the past, so that they could excellently complete their assignments.
