Addressing the event, Senior Captain Nguyen Xuan Dung, Deputy Political Chief of the command, said that over the past time, Naval Region 4 forces, troops and people of Truong Sa island district of Khanh Hoa province have wholeheartedly supported fishermen, particularly distressed ones. In addition, ship locks, fishing villages, and medical system in Truong Sa island district have been built synchronously, becoming common houses for fishermen at sea and shelters for thousands of trawlers.

In the program, Naval Region 4 presented 10 gifts to local needy fishermen, five bikes to children of disadvantaged fishermen, 100 lifejackets, 450 national flags, and 300 leaflets on what fishermen should know to local people. On the occasion, the medical staff from the command provided nearly 100 locals with free health check-ups, and bags of medicines.

The same day, Brigade 171 under the Naval Region 2 Command teamed up with other local units to organize a similar program in Loc An commune, Dat Do district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.
The joint teams gave 100 lifejackets, 200 national flags to local fishermen, 22 gifts to children of needy fishermen, including two adopted by the brigade, and 10 other gifts to impoverished fishermen in Loc An commune and Phuoc Hai townlet.
