Diverse in dissemination
In early days of the lunar Year of the Snake, all agencies and units under the Naval Region 5 Command promptly prepared for the year’s missions in which dissemination about national sea and islands is an important task.
Last year, its affiliates closely teamed up with relevant forces to popularize information about national sea and islands in diverse and renovated forms.

Senior Captain Hoang Quoc Hoan, Deputy Political Commissar of the Naval Region 5 Command said that in early this year, the command pro-actively built a dissemination plan and assigned orators to prepare contents and have methods suitable to each group of people. The command also teamed with localities to specify time for the dissemination program.
The officer added that this year’s program also targets war veterans, religious dignitaries, reputable ethnic people, Khmer students, owners of fishing vessels, and fishermen in coastal communes.
Contents are mainly on Vietnam’s laws; international treaties on sea and islands to which Vietnam is a member; the position, role, and importance of the sea and islands in the Fatherland building and protection cause; situations in the national sea and island areas; legal foundation and historical evidences on Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos; forces’ outcomes of the fight for and protection of the nation’s maritime sovereignty, and the Party and State’s views on addressing disputes and disagreements at sea. Directive 45 of the Prime Minister on some tasks and urgent solutions to overcome the European Committee’s warning on IUU fishing is also included.
Attainments and widely spread
Last year, the Command organized 48 maritime dissemination sessions for more than 20,000 cadres, Party members, Women’s Union members, religious dignitaries, students, people and orators. In addition, its talks about human resources attraction drew the participation of more than 13,500 students. It provided 1,600 fishermen with legal information, presented 1,500 national flags and distributed 1,500 “Must-know things for fishermen” manuals to local fishermen.
Notably, it also gave assistance in building eight comradeship, great unity, and gratitude houses and provided nearly 1,000 cubic meters of water to people in drought areas and fishermen fishing in the Southwestern waters.
Nguyen Tien Dung, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the People’s Council of An Minh Bac commune, U Minh Thuong district, Kien Giang province highlighted useful information provided by the command’s orators, helping local people learn more about the national sea and islands.
Nguyen Van Dang from vessel CM 91995 TS confirmed that important information provided by the naval officers help fishermen feel secure when fishing offshore to contribute to their family and the country’s development.
According to fishermen Pham Tan Tai from An Thoi ward, Phu Quoc city, Kien Giang province, fishermen always bear in mind what troops from the Naval Region 5 Command disseminated and fish in right fishing grounds, avoiding the illegal ones.
Achievements gained in the past are a firm foundation for the command and localities to carry out their dissemination work in 2025. They will also enhance the programs entitled “The Navy of Vietnam is a fulcrum for fishermen to fish offshore, hold on to the sea,” and “The Navy sponsors fishermen’s children.”
