At the meeting, Major General Nguyen Van Gau presented the Ministry of Defense’s gifts to the delegates and wished them good health on the occasion of their visit to Hanoi, President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, and the Ministry of National Defense.

The Deputy Chief of the General Department of Political Affairs emphasized that during the resistance wars for national liberation and Fatherland protection, under the leadership of the Party, the armed forces and people of Ca Mau province stayed united and promoted patriotic traditions and made great contribution to the national liberation and reunification cause.

On this occasion, Major General Nguyen Van Gau expressed his deep gratitude to the Party Committee, government, and people of Ca Mau province for protecting, caring, and helping troops of the Vietnam People's Army in its combat and development.

At the meeting, Major General Nguyen Van Gau briefed delegates on the military’s activities, especially the implementation of policies for troops and their families and gratitude work. According to him, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Wounded and Fallen Soldiers' Day (July 27, 1947 - 2022), the whole military launched an emulation movement to pay gratitude to national contributors, gave financial support to build 1,769 houses, presented 806 savings books to policy people and national contributors, and provided free health check-ups and medicines for over 13,000 people, to name but a few.

Meanwhile, units sewed silk ensembles and gave gifts to 1,489 heroic Vietnamese mothers who are being cared for by the military and provided medical equipment for five convalescent centers for those who rendered good service to the nation.

These practical activities of the whole military’s troops have contributed to the whole Party and people’s efforts in taking care of material and spiritual life of policy beneficiaries and national contributors, while educating troops, especially youngsters, of the gratitude tradition of the Vietnamese people.

Ca Mau province has more than 110,850 national contributors and their families, including more than 16,580 wounded soldiers, 71 heroes of the People's Armed Forces, more than 2,600 former prisioners of war.  Currently, the whole province is paying monthly allowances to more than 16,700 people with good service to the revolution and martyrs' relatives, with a total expense of over VND 28 billion/month.
