Doctors and medical staff of Military Hospital 17 provide medical examinations and health consultations for residents of Van Tuong Commune. |
Under the direction of the GDLTS and Military Region 5, the Department of Petroleum and Oil recently coordinated a medical mission in Van Tuong Commune. In early January, personnel from Hanoi and Da Nang transported medical equipment and supplies to the area to serve the local community.
On January 11-12, military doctors provided free examinations and medicines to nearly 700 residents, including policy beneficiaries and impoverished households. Guided by Depot 182 staff, patients underwent comprehensive screenings, including ultrasounds, ECGs, and specialized checks in internal medicine, surgery, and ophthalmology.
Among those treated was Truong Thi Hue, whose three malnourished children had not seen a doctor in two years due to financial hardship. Senior Colonel Dr. Mai Tan Man, Deputy Director of Military Hospital 17, personally consulted the family, providing nutritional supplements and essential gifts to support their wellbeing.

Nguyen Tien, 63, from Thuan Phuoc Hamlet, felt great relief after doctors attributed his sharp chest pains to work-related stress rather than the serious illnesses he feared after searching online.
Nearby, at the former Binh Thuan Commune People’s Committee headquarters, residents gathered for the “Zero-Cost Fair – Spring of Solidarity, Tet of Warm Military–Civilian Ties.” Duong Thi Gieo, a 78-year-old war invalid from Tuyet Diem 3 Hamlet, noted that 700 households each received a VND 600,000 shopping voucher and VND 500,000 in cash to purchase essential goods.

At the farewell, Senior Colonel Duong Ngoc Tuyen, Deputy Director of the Department of Petroleum and Oil, thanked local authorities and the people of Van Tuong for supporting units under Military Region 5 and the Quang Ngai Provincial Military Command in fulfilling their missions. He noted these activities reflect military-civilian solidarity during Tet, offering sincere affection from "Uncle Ho’s soldiers" to the community.
