After receiving the information about a passenger car, numbered 29E-02.489, which was in distress due to a landslide, burying 16 people, the Ha Giang provincial Military Command sent hundreds of troops to the scene for the rescue.

Thao Hong Son, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Ha Giang provincial Party Committee, noted that the province quickly took measures and mobilized forces, together with vehicles and equipment, to locate and search for victims, while encouraging their relatives.

Functional forces take victims out of the landslide scene.

Present at the scene, Colonel Hoang Van Giap, Political Chief of the Ha Giang provincial Military Command, held that hundreds of troops overcame difficulties to conduct the search. Meanwhile, the provincial health sector also moved to give victims with first aid and take them to hospital for further treatment.

At 20:00 on July 13, functional forces found 11 bodies, while four injured people are being treated at the Ha Giang provincial General Hospital. The functional forces are trying their best to find missing victims.

Ha Giang province supported VND 5 million to deceased victims’ relatives, and VND 3 million to injured ones, while Bac Me district held the burial service for deceased victims and presented VND 5 million to injured victims; among others.

Troops searching for missing people

On July 13, the Prime Minister signed a dispatch, assigning specific tasks to the Ministries of Public Security, Agriculture and Rural Development, Natural Resources and Environment, Transportation, Construction, Industry and Trade, and National Defense, and Chairmen of the People’s Committees of the provinces of Ha Giang, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Tuyen Quang, Son La, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Hoa Binh, Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen, Lang Son to overcome difficulties and pro-actively respond to floods and landslides.

The Prime Minister also extended his deepest condolences to the families of the victims, and requested preparedness for rains, floods and landslides in the time ahead.
