After the launching ceremony, participants promptly moved to set positions and cleaned up the environment. They collected trash and construction materials, and cleared bushes, among others. With high responsibility, after several hours, roads became brighter and cleaner.

It was part of activities of the “Green Saturday” program jointly held by the Long Bien district Military Command under the Hanoi Capital Command, Long Bien ward People’s Committee, and Military Police Company 19 under Brigade 144 of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army.
According to Major Tran Van Vinh from the Long Bien district Military Command, the activity was held to implement this year’s target of Long Bien district, thereby educating the armed forces and local people of the significance of building a “green, clean, beautiful and civilized” urban area; raising their awareness of environmental protection; and maintaining political security and social order and safety in the locality.
The “Green Saturday” program in Long Bien ward drew the participation of departments, sectors, socio-political organizations, troops, militiamen and local people.

Other wards in Long Bien district actively responded to the “Green Saturday” program.
In Cu Khoi ward, together with the Long Bien district Military Command’s personnel and the militia force, war veterans, members of the Women’s Union, youths and the locals joined the program.
According to Colonel Vu Thanh Quang, Commanding Officer of the Long Bien district Military Command, the command mapped out a concrete plan and coordinated with local authorities and other units to effectively carry out the “Green Saturday” in the district. Meanwhile, the command promoted information dissemination to raise people’s awareness of environmental protection in the locality.
Thanks to close collaboration between the armed forces and local authorities and the support of local people, the “Green Saturday” program in Long Bien district gained positive outcomes, contributing to creating a green, clean and beautiful environment.
