Distressed fisherman taken from Truong Sa Island to mainland for treatment
PANO - On June 30, a helicopter belonging to the Southern Helicopter Company (Vietnam Helicopter Corporation) was deployed to transport a fisherman who had suffered a stroke from Truong Sa (Spratly) Island to Military Hospital 175 for urgent medical treatment.
On the evening of June 29, at approximately 6:40 p.m., the Southern Helicopter Company dispatched a Super Puma L2 helicopter with the registration number VN-8616 to conduct the mission. Departing from Vung Tau Airport at 7:00 p.m., the helicopter flew to Ho Chi Minh City to pick up the medical team from Military Hospital 175 before proceeding to Truong Sa Island.

At 2:50 a.m. on June 30, the helicopter safely landed at Military Hospital 175, ensuring prompt urgent medical treatment for the patient. The patient, Huynh Thanh Binh, a fisherman on board fishing vessel QNg 90522 from Binh Chanh commune, Binh Son district (Quang Ngai province), was in a critical condition. On receiving initial treatment at the medical infirmary on Truong Sa Island, he was diagnosed with a stroke and cerebral hemorrhage, with a poor prognosis.
