Distressed fisherman saved in Truong Sa island district
PANO - The health center of Truong Sa townlet in the island district of Truong Sa, Khanh Hoa province, on October 17, successfully rescued a fisherman in distress.
Earlier, 41-year-old fisherman Mai Van Ly (from Binh Phuoc commune, Binh Son district, Quang Ngai province) had symptoms of nausea, abdominal distension, vomiting clotted blood while fishing at sea.
At 14:00 on October 16, fishermen on trawler QNg 95456 TS quickly brought Mr. Ly to the Truong Sa (Spratly) Islands. When being hospitalized, the patient was in epigastric abdominal pain, with blood pressure of 110/60mmHg, and pulse - 80 beats/min.
He was diagnosed as gastrointestinal bleeding due to peptic ulcer. The center’s doctors then provided him with fluids and tried to stop bleeding for the victim. He is recovering now and being monitored.
Fisherman Mai Van Ly is a crew-member on the fishing boat QNg 95456 TS, captained by Dang Ngoc Son, also from Quang Ngai province. On this occasion, troops on Truong Sa island district also provided the fishermen with fresh water and food.
