Officers, soldiers, and residents on Song Tu Tay (Southwest Cay) Island welcome Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau and the delegation.

In early April 2026, Vessel KN-491 transported the delegation from Ho Chi Minh City to visit troops and civilians across islands, such as Song Tu Tay, Son Ca, Nam Yet, and the DK1/11 Platform. At each stop, the delegation reviewed task performance reports, which highlighted strict combat readiness, military discipline, and successful "greening" efforts involving tens of thousands of trees.

Forces on the islands continue to strengthen civil-military solidarity by providing fishermen with freshwater, medical care, and storm shelter, making these outposts reliable support points for offshore operations.

Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau conveyed greetings from General Phan Van Giang, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense. He commended the stationed forces and emphasized the strict implementation of Party and State directives on maritime duties. He urged units to improve training quality, maintain high vigilance, and ensure absolute safety.

Furthermore, he called for continued innovation in environmental initiatives and internal unity to build the islands into firm strongholds protecting Vietnam’s sacred maritime sovereignty. During the trip, the delegation offered incense at local pagodas, paid tribute to fallen heroes, and presented gifts to encourage local residents and troops. The visit concluded on April 9.
