The deal aims to promote the cooperation of local authorities, agencies, units, people, and coast guard force to sustainably develop maritime economy and effectively carry out the above program, contributing to firmly safeguarding national sovereignty, security, and safety at sea.
According to the agreement, the two sides will conduct law education and dissemination of the Party’s and State’s guidelines, policies, and directives on mass mobilization for people and troops in the province. They will also exchange information related to political security and public order as well as the protection of national security and navigation safety. In addition, coast guard units will coordinate with relevant agencies in the province to combat smuggling, trade frauds, and drug trafficking and help local people improve cultural activities and build new-styled rural areas.
More importantly, the force will assist fishermen in developing maritime economy, support needy fishermen and children, and coordinate with other forces to safeguard national sovereignty over seas and islands.
Speaking at the event, Lieutenant General Hoang Van Dong, Political Commissar of the Vietnam Coast Guard Command, recalled that over the past two years the force’s mass mobilization program in island communes and districts has gained practical achievements and received active support from local leaderships, people, benefactors, and businesses.
On the occasion, leaders of the Vietnam Coast Guard Command and Ba Ria - Vung Tau province presented 200 gifts, worth VND 1 million each, to needy fishermen in the province.
