Vietnam wins ASEAN Army Men’s Volleyball Tournament 2023
PANO - Vietnam bagged the first prize at the ASEAN Army Men’s Volleyball Tournament 2023 after beating the Royal Thai Army team 3-1 in the final match.
The final match between the two teams from the Vietnam People’s Army and the Royal Thai Army took place in Ho Chi Minh City on October 8, drawing the attendance of Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia; Chief of the Department of Military Training Lieutenant General Thai Van Minh; Commander of Military Region 7 Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang, and representatives of participating units and international guests.
Earlier, the Indonesian team came third after registering a 1-0 victory over Lao People’s Army team in the semifinal match.
Speaking at the closing ceremony after the final, Gen. Nghia said the tournament ended successfully with high determination of participating athletes. All of the athletes overcame difficulties and all of them were the winners. This was also an opportunity for military personnel from ASEAN member states to strengthen collaboration, contributing to maintaining peace, stability and mutual growth of the region as well as the world, he added. He hoped that after the event, the good image of the Vietnamese people and country would stay in their mind.
As a result, the organizing panel presented medals to teams from the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, the Lao People’s Army, Malaysian military, and Myanmar military, and awarded outstanding individuals during the tournament.
