The first committee of the association for the 2018-2023 term

Present at the ceremony were General Le Kha Phieu, former General-Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), and Director of the Political Department of Command 719, Vu Mao, former Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for External Relations and President of the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association, former generals, officers and war veterans, who have voluntarily undertaken international service in Cambodia.

The Board, established in July 1, 1999 with 50 initial members, is an organization gathering former veterans, who undertook international service in Cambodia from 1979 to 1989. After its 19 years of operation, the organization now has 154 members. Therefore, the Central Committee of Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association decided to form its chapter for the Political Department of Command 719.

Accordingly, the association is tasked to enhance image of Uncle Ho and the traditions of the Vietnam’s People Army among their members, promote friendship and solidarity between the two countries and militaries, conduct gratitude activities and enhance people-to-people exchanges.

Speaking at the event, former Party General-Secretary Phieu expressed his delight at the establishment of the association. He hoped the organization would develop its members and expand its operation, contributing to cementing the solidarity and friendship between the Vietnamese and Cambodian people.

At the event, delegates voted to select 13 members of the first committee of the association for the 2018-2023 term with Nguyen Dinh as the selected Chairman.
