Under the chair of its Commanding General Lt. Gen. Le Duc Thai, the Vietnam Border Guard Command reviewed its task performance in 2024, highlighting the force’s close following of reality, border affairs requirements, solidarity, pro-activeness, creativeness, and comprehensive completion of the border work.

This year, the force continues promoting its high determination and enhancing measures on grasping situational developments, managing and defending territorial sovereignty and security in border, sea and island areas.
Gen. Thai asked the force to make proposals and suggestions to help handle contingencies to avoid being put in a passive position, strictly observe border documents and agreements signed with neighboring countries. In addition, it should make thorough preparation for the “Border spring warms up border people’s hearts” program, and ensure a cozy Tet for local people.
At the event, the Command announced decisions on awarding collectives and individuals in the “Determined-to-Win” emulation movement in 2024 and launched the movement in 2025.
In the afternoon, the Vietnam Border Guard Command summarized the implementation of the Party and political work in 2024 and emphasized the comprehensive, deep, focal performance of the work this year. The meeting underlined the preparation for the upcoming all-level border guard party congresses for the 2025-2030 tenure, improved quality of ideological, political and traditional education, good dissemination of information about big events of the country, military and border guard force. In the year, the border guard force will continue keep a close eye on situations in border areas, at sea and on islands, give suggestions to better the mass mobilization work, and more.

In his address at the conference to look back on the defense-military task performance of Military Region 9 (MR9) in 2024, Major General Chiem Thong Nhat, MR9’s Second-in-Command and Chief of Staff, highlighted the local armed forces’ embracing and implementing the Chief of the General Staff’s direction on defense and military tasks, their pro-active watch, forecast and assessment of situations, timely suggestions and good proposals to the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense. The MR9 Command’s leader also laid stress on the region’s effective handling of situations, quality of training and exercises, regularity building and discipline observance.
This year, the Signal Corps continues to improve signal quality, accelerate administrative reform, digital transformation, and exploitation of new equipment, improve its troops’ command of foreign languages and information technology, and ensure smooth communications during big events of the country.
