PANO - A three-force air defense tactics and shooting exercise in 2016 for northern units was started on October 10 at the National Military Training Center 1 in the presence of Lieutenant General Pham Hong Huong, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army.

The participating units will compete in a number of live-fire shooting events.

Participating units are 37mm, 57mm anti-aircraft artillery detachments and 12.7mm anti-aircraft machine gun detachments of Military Regions 1, 2, 3, Hanoi Capital Command, Army Corps 1, 2, and the Navy.

The detachments will compete in a number of live-fire shooting events for anti-aircraft guns in daylight and at night. Meanwhile, the organizing panel is asked to well organize all events with absolute safety while precisely and objectively evaluating the levels of command and control, multi-force coordination, mastery of the weapons and other factors to complete missions of the participating units.

The exercise also aims to examine and evaluate the results of training; the ability to fulfill missions and ensure combat readiness; the capabilities of organization, command, and coordination among forces; force building; as well as the quality of weapons, ammunitions and technical equipment of the units.

Lessons learnt from the exercise would help officers, soldiers and commands at all levels in directing and organizing training for troops of the three air defense forces, meeting the training and combat readiness requirements in the new situation.
