During the event, delegates and more than 400 Truong Son veterans recalled glorious traditions of soldiers, volunteers, and frontline conscripted laborers who fought bravely to make legendary Truong Son feats-of-arms.

Within 16 years from 1959 to 1975, Truong Son soldiers constructed a grand transportation system with five North-South roads and 21 horizontal roads connecting the areas East and West of the Truong Son (Annamite) mountain range, with a total length of nearly 20,000 kilometers of motorway, and about 1,700 kilometers of oil pipeline, etc.

For 16 years, Truong Son soldiers made significant contribution to the resistance war against the U.S. imperialists and the liberation of the South and reunification of the country.

In his speech, Major General Vo So, the association’s President, underscored that although the war was over, Truong Son - Ho Chi Minh Trail is always a great pride and unforgettable memories in every heartbeat and every breath of Truong Son soldiers, volunteers and frontline conscripted laborers.

Honoring outstanding collectives and individuals

According to Major General Hoang Anh Tuan, Standing Vice President of the association, over the past years, the association has mobilized social resources and called on its members for contribution to voluntary activities. As a result, the association has built nearly 3,000 gratitude houses, presented 3,639 savings books, granted around 700 scholarships, given more than 3,000 blankets and over 102,000 gifts to needy members; and provided free health check-ups for nearly 6,900 members, to name but a few.
