These days, apart from performing the regular mission of guarding the border areas, the officers and soldiers at Son Vi Border Post of the Ha Giang provincial Border Guard Command make the most of their free time to decorate their barracks, eagerly awaiting the lunar New Year.

Son Vi Border Post is located in Son Vi commune, the Northernmost area of Meo Vac district in Ha Giang. The population of the commune is almost entirely made up of ethnic minority people. The unit is responsible for managing and protecting a border section over 17 kilometers long in Son Vi commune, which borders Funing district of China’s Yunnan province and Napo district of China’s Guangxi province. The post oversees a total of 35 border markers.

According to Deputy Political Officer of Son Vi Border Post Major Nong Quang Lap, in addition to observing combat readiness regulations, the unit has paid attention to taking care of local people and creating a joyful New Year atmosphere for troops.

Below are photos of the border post’s preparations for the lunar New Year.
