Under the direction of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, and in line with the instruction of the General Staff and the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, the program takes place between March 3 and 7.
By March 2, localities have almost finished preparations for the enlistment drive, such as finalizing the list of enlisted youths, checking their health, holding exchanges to encourage enlisted youths to serve the military and to raise their patriotism and their understanding of army’s traditions, and issuing them with the required military equipment.
This year, the enlistment work continues to follow the directions from last year. Before the Lunar New Year festival (Tet), provinces and cities nationwide worked with relevant army units to ensure that all would-be enlisted youths have good health and education backgrounds.
However, there remain a number of enlisted youths who, diagnosed with myopia or odonto-stomatology problems during the health checks-up, do not meet the selection criteria. Hence, it is necessary for localities to carefully select youths with the required good health at grassroots level.
Besides, relevant agencies should send missions to encourage them to actively serve their military term, as well as heighten their awareness and pride in joining the army as they contribute to safeguarding the Fatherland.
Moreover, they have to provide proper assistance to the families of new enlistees who are in need. All cases of objecting or evading the implementation of the Law on Military Service must be publically and transparently dealt with to ensure equality, seriousness and democracy in the execution of the law particularly at the grassroots levels.
Meanwhile, localities and army units should join cooperate make sure that the handover of enlistees is carried out formally, safely and in good order.
After receiving recruits, army units have to pay due attention to to their barracks, aiming to provide the best conditions for the daily lives and training of the new soldiers.
Doing the required military service is an honor and responsibility of every Vietnamese young citizen and, in this way, generations of young people have made contributions to the national construction and defense cause. With their good education background and aspirations to serve the nation, today Vietnamese youths follow in the footsteps of previous generations and continue to uphold this tradition.
We believe that all enlistees will deserve the trust of the Party, State, and people to successfully fulfill their assigned tasks, contributing to the building of a revolutionary, regular, elite and modern people's army.
