Over the past two years, the military doctors experienced many training courses and lectures by foreign experts to improve their professionalism as well as their English skills.

“A soldier should not refuse any assigned missions. Our task is to bring the beautiful images of the Vietnam People’s Army and the Vietnamese military doctors during task performance to the UN peacekeeping mission. This is also my great honor,” said a non-commissioned officer, Major Bui Thi Xoa, the oldest female military doctor of the hospital.

“My husband is also a soldier so he shares more understanding and sympathy with me. He always encourages me to fulfill missions. I found it difficult to study English but I am working at the Surgical Ward of the level-two field hospital so English is really necessary for my job. That is the motivation for me to study English as well as to fulfill my assigned missions,” added Xoa.

Non-commissioned officer, Lieutenant To Kieu Chinh shared her unforgettable memory when she was staffed to the level-two field hospital two years ago, “At that time, I felt surprised and nervous because this is a new and tough mission that I have never got before. I wonder whether I can accomplish the mission or not. My unit has encouraged me and I realized that this is a pride for me to take the mission. To fulfill the mission, I honed my English skills at the hospital as well as am following a training course in nursing at Ho Chi Minh City-based Nguyen Tat Thanh University.” The course is to finish in a few days and she commits to being completely ready to fulfill all missions.

According to Lieutenant Colonel, Doctor Bui Duc Thanh, Director of the level-two field hospital, all female military officers have overcome difficulties to be ready for all assigned tasks.

Women taking part in the level-two field hospital’s missions face more difficulties than men do, so the unit’s leaders gave more care for their material and spiritual life. “We have gained much experience over the training process. All troops have overcome difficulties to fulfill missions. With great efforts, we hope that we would well undertake the UN peacekeeping tasks,” Thanh added.
