In realizing the Chief of the General Staff’s request, delegates at the seminar contributed constructive ideas on building the Vietnam People’s Army in the new period. They agreed that building the military in the new period means building the structural organization, personnel with military and political knowledge and professional competence, and weapons and military equipment for missions. Among them, building a politically-strong military is considered a basis to raise the overall quality, combat power and combat readiness, contributing to turning the Vietnam People’s Army into a loyal and reliable political and combat force of the Party, State and people.

Acknowledging and highly appreciating delegates’ constructive opinions, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong asked relevant agencies to seriously consider all comments to make amendments to the set of criteria before submitting it to higher levels for approval. He said that this set of criteria will serve as a basis for building the Vietnam People’s Army to meet the requirements of missions in the new period.
