The event was part of the activities in celebration of the 60th founding anniversary of the forces (February 15, 1961-2021).

In his opening speech, Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Deputy Defense Minister and Head of the steering committee of the seminar, emphasized the forces were founded on February 15, 1961 at the D zone according to the Politburo’s decision. Its forces included the local armed forces and the reinforcement force from North Vietnam.
The forces, part of the Vietnam People’s Army, were tasked with engaging in combat in the Southern theater under the concentrated and united leadership of the Party Central Committee.
The forces successfully completed its historic mission and achieved numerous feats of arms.
In his introductory speech, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, Deputy Head of the steering committee of the seminar, said that the seminar was a good chance for the participants to recall the glorious tradition, nature, and feats of arms of the forces .
All speeches at the seminar highlighted the right decision on establishing the forces, and the Party’s and President Ho Chi Minh’s sound leadership over the forces, so that they could promote combat strength and gain victories.
Speeches also confirmed and clarified the forces’ important feats of arms and role in the national salvation cause. Lessons drawn at the event will help build a revolutionary, standardized, elite and gradually modernized Vietnam People’s Army and protect the Fatherland.
