PANO – Ship SAR 274 has successfully taken injured fisherman Tran Ngoc Quan to Border Guard Flotilla 48 in Quy Nhon city for emergency treatment at the provincial General Hospital.

Earlier, at 6:35 on October 28, the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center Region II (Da Nang MRCC) received a mayday signal from trawler QNg 94706 TS. While fishing 440 nautical miles off Quy Nhon city and 510 nautical miles off Da Nang city, 30-year old fisherman Tran Ngoc Quan, (a native of Quang Ngai province) had a fever and was in deep coma.

On receiving the information, the center called upon ships operating nearby to come to help the patient and at the same time instructed other fishermen on board to give the patient first aid.

At 7:20 the next day, the trawler continued to call for urgent support as Quan’s life was at risk. In addition, the center immediately sent Ship SAR 274 to the rescue.

SAR 274 with two doctors from the emergency center on board immediately rushed to the scene to take the patient ashore. At 21:30 the same day, the rescue ship approached the distressed trawler, provided healthcare for the fishermen, and took him ashore at 10:00 next day.
