Retired generals in Hanoi gather
PANO – A meeting was held on December 11 for retired generals of the armed forces in the capital city in celebration of the 70th National Resistance Day, December 19.
Addressing the meeting, Hoang Trung Hai, Secretary of the municipal Party Committee welcomed the delegates and highlighted the event as a golden chance to recall the glorious history of the nation, to show gratitude to great contributions of people, the armed forces, especially the generals, to the revolutionary cause, and to encourage cadres, Party members, and Hanoians to promote heroic traditions and successfully fulfill political missions of the city in particular and the nation in general.

The municipal Party Committee Secretary stressed that under the sound leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh, generations of Hanoians, officers and troops of the Vietnam People’s Army and Public Security Forces have over the past 70 years made important contributions to the national salvation and reunification cause, the Doi moi (Renewal) process, and national construction and defense cause.
On behalf of the participants, Hero of the People’s Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Khuat Duy Tien, expressed deep gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh, fallen soldiers, and people who sacrificed for national independence. He thanked the Party, Central Military Commission, Ministries of National Defense and Public Security for educating and training eminent generals for the armed forces.
Lieutenant General Khuat Duy Tien promised that the retired generals would continue studying President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example and mobilizing their families and young people to preserve and promote achievements obtained by former generations.
