Addressing the event, Major General Doan Xuan Bo recalled development milestones of the online newspaper.
Since its inception on December 20, 2002, the online newspaper has developed vigorously and now has four more online versions of English (2006), Chinese (2012), Lao (2017), and Khmer (2017) and a media section (2019).
The People’s Army Newspaper, including the online one, has become one of the leading newspapers in Vietnam with more readers at home and abroad thanks to its diversity in forms, richness in information and quality in organizing online and offline events, including important political, military and defense ones.
Speaking highly of the newspaper’s staff’s efforts over the past time, the Editor-in-Chief asked them to continue upholding the good traditions as a newspaper of military troops, the organ of the Central Military Commission and the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense and the voice of the armed forces and people.

He also requested them to focus on updating news, giving comprehensive information, building a data ecosystem, and digital information repositories on military, defense, Fatherland protection, keeping the role as a key in reporting on military, defense, Fatherland protection work, and in orienting public opinions, and expanding target readers to people from all walks of life, young generation, Vietnamese at home and abroad and international readers as well.
The editor-in-chief also noted that the online newspaper should strive to soon debut the Russian version.
In his speech, Vice Chief of the Online Newspaper Division (Commanding Officer Pro tempore) Colonel Trinh Van Dung expressed gratitude to higher levels’ thoughtfulness and direction to further develop the online newspaper.

Colonel Dung stressed that the online newspaper will continue to comprehensively renovate in terms of content, form, and way of organization and coordination, take advantage of information technology and digital platforms, and build it in the direction of smartness and modernity, contributing to developing the People’s Army Newspaper to be a major multimedia press agency with leading orientation of public opinion and high prestige of the military and nation.
On the occasion, authorized by the Prime Minister, Major General Doan Xuan Bo handed over the Prime Minister’s certificate of merit to the online newspaper in recognition of its achievement in covering military and defense mission performance, and its contribution to military building, defense consolidation, and Fatherland protection.
