GS’s Deputy Chief Lieutenant General Pham Truong Son attended and directed the event.
Lt. Gen. Doan Tue, born on May 19, 1917, was the Commander of the Artillery Corps and the leader of the artillery force in the two historic campaigns namely Dien Bien Phu in 1954 and Ho Chi Minh in 1975. He fought on different fronts, engaged in a number of operations from the North to the South in the resistance wars against the French colonialists and the U.S. imperialists. He also performed international missions on the Lao theater.

In any posts, he always showed absolute loyalty to the Party, the Fatherland and the people, did his best for the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party, the nation, the military and the Artillery Corps. Moreover, he always promoted the sense of responsibility, was wise and brave in combat, enthusiastic at work, made important contribution to improving artillery troops’ highly-efficient, creative and flexible tactical and combat skills.
For generations of artillery troops, Gen. Tue is a senior commander, the person who laid the foundation for the development of the artillery force with many special and turning marks. He served as a source of pride for younger artillery troops to follow.
In recognition of his typical feats-of-arms and achievements, the State President signed a decision dated January 23, 2025 on posthumously bestowing the above title on him.

Addressing the ceremony, Maj. Gen. Nguyen Hong Phong, Commanding-General of the Artillery Corps, laid stress on the event, saying that it demonstrated the Party, State, military’s acknowledgement of Gen. Tue’s credits and special attainments, and recognition of his great dedication to the artillery troops, and the honor and pride of his family and home town. It also met the expectations of generations of the artillery force and served as a motivation for them to confront all challenges, and excellently complete assignments.
