The event was attended by Military Region 5’s Commander Lieutenant General Thai Dai Ngoc, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nguyen Duc Thanh, MR5’s Political Commissar Lieutenant General Trinh Dinh Thach, and members of the steering committee of the exercise.

Ninh Thuan province’s defensive area exercise, codenamed NT-23, was divided into two parts. In the civil defense exercise, participants responded to a dam break and a fire incident at Ninh Chu port in Ninh Hai district.

The defensive area exercise part had three stages, namely shifting the armed forces to a higher combat readiness status, shifting the locality to national defense status, and preparing for and conducting defensive operation.

Leaders of MR5 and Ninh Thuan province evaluated that this year’s exercise had new contents close to local reality. The live-fire content with field components was credited as the largest event so far since it attracted the participation of different forces and took place in different locations.

They concluded that the exercise was successful, meeting all set requirements and ensuring absolute safety for personnel and vehicles. The positive results came from the close direction and responsible support of the steering committee for the exercise and agencies of MR5; responsibility of local authorities, departments, and organizations; active participation of militiamen, reservists, and local people.
