Naval ship saves distressed fishermen at sea
PANO – Ship 360 of Naval Region 3 successfully rescued and landed ashore 12 fishermen in distress on the night of September 14.
Earlier, two trawlers QNg-98687TS and QNg-94628TS with nine Quang Ngai fishermen on board were overcome by high waves and were on the point of sinking while trying to take refuge from the impending storm Doksuri.
Finally, unable to fix the problems, the fishermen called for help.
Once receiving the mayday signal, Naval Region 3 immediately sent a ship to the scene. Because of high waves, the naval ship decided to let the troubled trawlers go adrift and only took the victims on board.
On their way to the mainland, the naval ship met trawler QNg-44011TS with three crewmembers on board which was drifting due to a gearbox failure; all three men were also successfully rescued.
