Regarding its external affairs, Khoa said that the academy’s position and prestige has been promoted not only in the military and the nation, but also in the world. The academy actively boosted cooperation with international partners in exchanging academic issues, scientific research and defense and security strategies. Via cooperation activities, it made clear the Party’s guidelines and State’s policies on defense and military to international friends.
Realizing bilateral cooperation agreements between Vietnamese and foreign governments and defense ministries on training, in the 2019-2020 school year, the unit will open the fifth training course for foreign officers.
Addressing the event, Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong congratulated the academy’s lecturers, trainees, staff, and troops for their recorded achievements over the past years.
He emphasized that as a training center for generals, high-ranking officers, and seniors leaders of the Party and State, the National Defense Academy should focus on five key tasks in the coming time. Of the tasks, Vuong urged the unit to embrace and implement resolutions and directives of the Party, State, Central Military Commission, and Ministry of National Defense, especially documents on the national protection strategy and military and defense tasks in the new period.
He added that the school should make breakthroughs in renewing training programs, education and training contents, and scientific research methods and promote applying science-technology advancements to training and education activities to raise the quality and effectiveness of training programs for officers and military and defense courses for people.
Vuong also asked the academy to foster international cooperation and pay attention to building an organizationally-, ethically-, politically- and ideologically-strong Party Committee in combination with turning the unit into a comprehensively strong, regular, and modern one.
