During the course, the participants will study national defense strategies of some foreign countries relating to Vietnam’s defense-security, strategy on national building and protection in the new period, the Vietnamese Party’s standpoints on building whole people defense and people’s warfare  (ensuring national security, political, cultural and ideological security), the leadership of the Party and the management of the State over defense-security, socio-economic development in line with bolstering defense-security, external defense affairs in the new context, prevention against “peaceful evolution”, riots and overthrow by hostile forces, some issues on military regions’ defensive warfare and on building defensive areas in provinces and cities, management and protection of national sovereignty over seas and islands and national border sovereignty, as well as shifting to defense posture, and more.

The trainees will have fact-finding trips to some localities and units to learn more about the defense and security work in combination with socio-economic development.

Addressing the opening ceremony of the course, General Tam emphasized the importance of such a course to improve the trainees’ knowledge of defense-security, to promote concepts and capabilities of directing the building of defense-security in close attachment to people’s security in ministries, departments and localities and to meet the requirements in national construction and defense.

The course, according to General Tam, will give the participants a chance to improve their capabilities in argument, thought and strategic forecast, recommendation-giving and defense-security mission performance, contributing to building a strong whole-people defense and people’s security posture to meet the missions of building and defending the Fatherland in the new situation.
