At the event

The board handed over more than VND 2 billion to 5,000 trade union members and other workers from defense agencies and military units affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

It also presented facemasks, protective suits, worth nearly VND 400 million, to the Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control of Military Region 5, the Vietnam Border Guard Command, and Hospital 199 under the Ministry of Public Security.

Addressing the event, Senior Colonel Nguyen Dinh Duc, head of the board, hoped that the gifts will help the recipients effectively control COVID-19. He also asked grassroots trade union organizations to boost information dissemination and political and ideological education to raise their trade union members’ awareness of COVID-19 preventive measures and safety for those working in quarantine areas.

Since early this year, the Defense Trade Union Board has conducted various practical activities to prevent the COVID-19 pandemic. It has visited and presented medical supplies and gifts to trade union members and troops serving Vietnamese citizens in quarantine facilities, and those successfully researching SARS-CoV-2 quick test kits. It has also supported defense workers affected by the COVID-19.
