Former Party General Secretary Le Kha Phieu; General Ngo Xuan Lich, Defense Minister; and Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Defense Minister, sent flowers of congratulation to the event.

An art performance at the ceremony

In his speech, Senior Colonel Nguyen Dinh Duc, Head of the Defense Trade Union Board, recalled the proud traditions of the organization over the past seven decades of construction and development. The Defense Trade Union’s achievements in workers’ movements and trade union activities have always been attached to the glorious revolutionary periods of the country, the Party, the Vietnamese working class, and the Vietnam People’s Army.

Addressing the ceremony, General Luong Cuong, on behalf of the Standing Board of the Central Military Commission, and leadership of the Defense Ministry and the GDP, spoke highly of the task performance of the Defense Trade Union in general and the Defense Trade Union Board in particular.

The General underlined that these achievements remarkably contributed to the success of the national construction and defense cause of the Party, people and military.

He also expressed his thanks to the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, ministries, sectors, localities, and people nationwide for their close coordination with  workers’ movements and activities of the Defense Trade Union over the past years.

General Luong Cuong asked Party Committees, chains-of-command, and trade union organizations at all levels in military units to embrace directives and resolutions of higher levels, especially Resolution No.20 of the 10th Party Central Committee on continuing to build the Vietnamese working class in the period of national industrialization and modernization; further uphold the revolutionary nature of the Vietnamese working class and the virtues of the Vietnam People’s Army among all Defense Trade Union members; raise political stance and competence of all Defense Trade Union members; boost production activities in combination with other emulation drives; and take care of their living standards.

Authorized by the State President, General Luong Cuong presented the First-class Fatherland Protection Order to the Defense Trade Union Board.

Also at the event, a leader of the Defense Trade Union Board read the letter of congratulation of the Defense Minister to Defense Trade Union’s members and military officers in charge of trade union work in the military.
