PANO - The Emulation and Reward Council of the Ministry of National Defence on July 16th held a session to review the emulation and reward work in the whole army in the first half of this year and set out missions for the second half, under the chair of Senior Lieutenant General Ngo Xuan Lich, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) and Head of the Council.

Outstanding units in the “Determination to Win” emulation movement, including the General Staff of VPA, the General Department of Politics, the Navy, Coast Guard Command, Air Defence-Air Force Service and others were named. Some emulation drives were also highlighted.

Delegates agreed on orientations and goals of the work and the “Determination to Win” emulation movement in the last 6 months of this year with 8 key activities.

Concluding the session, General Lich laid stress on positive changes in carrying out the work, strongly driving the whole army to complete their political tasks. He emphasized firm political and ideological stance, bravery, resilience and determination to safeguard national sovereignty over its sea and islands of troops, especially law enforcement forces at sea, before complicated developments in the East Sea.

Examining missions in the second half of this year, General Lich directed units to launch the emulation “Virtue of Uncle Ho’s Soldiers Brightens Forever” to celebrate the 70th founding anniversary of the VPA and to duplicate good examples on protecting national sovereignty over its sea and islands, as well as reward timely typical groups and individuals.

Also at the session, the council conducted a vote on conferring the titles of Hero of People’s Armed Forces and Labour Hero in 2014.
