Military Women’s Congress successfully wraps up
PANO – The 6th Military Women’s Congress (term 2016-2020) was successfully concluded on December 8 in Hanoi, in the presence of Vietnamese Defense Minister, General Ngo Xuan Lich.

The 6th Military Women’s Congress reviewed the implementation of the women’s affairs in the military over the past five years (2011-2016), outlined direction, missions, targets and action plans for the new term, contributed opinions to the draft political report to the 12th National Women’s Congress and the draft amended statute of the Vietnam Women’s Union.
Themed “Solidarity, Intellect, Renovation, Development”, the 6th Military Women’s Congress has shown the political willpower, potential, creativeness, and strong determination of women in the military, contributing to the accomplishment of all assigned missions and building of a revolutionary, regular, elite and gradually modernized army. The success of the congress has marked a new level of development in the women’s movement and work in the military while significantly contributing to the success of the upcoming 12thNational Women’s Congress.
Addressing the congress, on behalf of the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense, General Ngo Xuan Lich acknowledged and hailed the achievements made by women in the military over the past five years. On this occasion, the general presented women in the military a laudatory writing bearing the words: “Patriotism, Solidarity, Creativeness, Faithfulness, and Resourcefulness.”
After two days of discussion, the congress elected 12 full and two alternate members to present nearly 100,000 women union members in the military at the 12th National Women’s Congress.
