Accordingly, the storm blew roofs off 24,000 houses, inundated thousands of others, destroyed rice, corn and vegetables. Doksuri also collapsed many high voltage power poles.

Senior Colonel Pham Xuan Dieu, Commander of Quang Binh rovincial Border Guard said that around 60% of houses in coastal areas in the province were unroofed and many boats were damaged due to strong wind and tough waves. 

In Ha Tinh province, military units under Military Region 4 quickly evacuated people in Hai phong coastal village, Ky Loi commune, Ky Anh Town, Ha Tinh province to some border posts and evacuation areas to avoid any possible human losses.

On September 16, troops of Regiment 335 under Division 324 were dispatched to Ky Anh district and Ky Anh town to help locals overcome the consequences of the storm.

Senior Lolonel Hoang Van Thiet, Deputy-Commander of Division 324 said upon receiving the order, the unit immediately prepared forces and vehicles to carry out the mission.

Meanwhile, Nghe An Provincial Border Guard sent around 400 troops to help locals in Nghi Hai ward, Cua Lo town repair houses and 100 others to Nghi Hai Primary School to clean up the environment. Nghi Hai Primary School was unroofed and many facilities were damaged by the storm.

Military Region 4 mobilized around 3,000 troops of Divisions 968 and 324 and Signal Brigade 80 and different kinds of vehicles to cope with the storm which was said to be the strongest in many years.

In Ba Don town, Quang Binh province, around 100 troops from the Provincial Military Command, the commune’s Military Command, Military Command of Quang Trach district and militia force worked with local forces to clean up the environment and encouraged and helped local people repair their houses.  More than 8,000 troops and militiamen from the Provincial Military Command were mobilized to different localities to help people quickly return to normal life.

In Thua Thien-Hue, Senior Colonel Nguyen Hong Son, Commander of the Provincial Military Command asked troops to repair houses for locals at the earliest opportunity, and, as a result, more than 200 troops were mobilized to carry out this urgent mission.
