Environmental protection in the military is an important task and is placed under the leadership of the Central Military Commission and the Minister of National Defense.

Embracing the Politburo's Resolution No.41-NQ/TW issued on November 15, 2004 on environmental protection in the national industrialization and modernization period, and Resolution No.24-NQ/QW issued on June 3, 2013 on proactively responding to climate change and enhancing natural resource management and environmental protection, over the past time, the Ministry of National Defense has issued various guidelines and solutions on directing its affiliates in the whole military to successfully complete the task of protecting national sovereignty associated with environmental protection.

Reportedly, the seminar's organizing panel received nearly 50 reports from military and civilian agencies and units. The reports focused on clarifying various information dissemination issues on protecting the environment, overcoming war-left environmental pollution, effectively exploiting natural resources for military and defense activities, and actively participating in activities in response to environmental incidents.

In his closing speech at the seminar, Gen. Nghia stressed that the event's success has made an important contribution to the successful implementation of the Party's guidelines and the State's laws, as well as the directives and plans of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense in carrying out environmental protection tasks, adapting to climate change, and overcoming environmental incidents in the national industrialization and modernization period.

He also asked commanders of military agencies and units to pay attention to studying and applying their acquired knowledge, especially practical and effective creative methods, to conducting their missions.

In addition, relevant agencies under the GDP should closely coordinate with other press agencies to further promote the dissemination of information related to environmental protection to troops, thereby raising their awareness of and responsibility to adapt to climate change and overcome environmental incidents.
