Addressing the event, Major General Duong Duc Thien, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Department emphasized that since its establishment seven decades ago, the unit’s personnel have exerted all-out efforts and overcome numerous difficulties to complete all assigned missions.

The unit’s officers and soldiers have promoted their tradition “Loyalty, Devotion, Smartness, Creativeness, Unity, Observance of Discipline, Self-Protection, and Proactive Combat against the Enemy.”
With its feats of arms and outstanding task performance, the department was awarded the title “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces in the Renewal Process” in 2000 and its two affiliates were presented with the title “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces in the resistance war against American imperialists” in 2014.
Applauding the department’s accomplishments in the past, General Luong Cuong, permanent member of the Central Military Commission and Director of the General Department of Politics asked it to continue embracing higher levels’ resolutions and directives on military security protection work and political missions in building the military in the current period.
The unit should follow closely and forecast situational developments, give recommendations to raise internal political protection, and ensure security in defense diplomacy activities. It should also work closely with other relevant military and civilian agencies and units to ensure absolute safety for key political events of the nation and the military.
The unit was requested to apply modern technologies in the fight against hostile forces’ strategies “peaceful evolution” and “depoliticization of the military”, and build a contingent of personnel with firm political stances, high professional expertise, high responsibility, and ready to undertake and fulfil all assignments in any conditions and circumstances, contributing to building an exemplary and comprehensively-strong unit.
Authorized by the State President, General Cuong handed over the order to the department.
