PANO - The General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army on October 16th held a meeting to carry out the project “Modernizing Military Press Organs in the 2014-2018 period” under the chair of Deputy Director Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia.
In his speech, general Nghia emphasized that military press units are the organs of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defence, as well as the voice of the armed forces and people of Vietnam. Under the direction of the General Department of Politics, they are really sharp weapons and part of the Vietnam revolutionary press system. Thus, they must run precise and objective information, contributing to the national construction and protection cause, as well as the building of a revolutionary, standardized, elite and modern army.
Besides, they must heighten their responsibility for their publcations and consider building a modern military press system, a common trend and an objective demand.
To this end, they must be equipped with modern vehicles and staffed with a professional contingent of officers, reporters and editors.
The implementation of this project must be seen as a political mission of each unit, especially those with big investment capital.
At the meeting, representatives from military zone and other military press organs showed their consensus with the Central Military Commission’s and the Defence Ministry’s project and investment in the party and political work in general, and the information work in particular.
They also raised questions about material difficulties in some press organs, and proposed to be allowed to more flexibly use investments and budgets in accordance with their conditions.
General Nghia directed relevant organs to check and timely address the raised issues to effectively make use of investment capital and to attract more talents to military press organs.
