PANO - Party Committees of Military Zone 2, Vietnam-Russia Tropical Centre, and University of Politics held their Party Congresses for the term 2015-2020 on August 25th.
* The 8th Party Congress of Military Zone 2’s Party Committee heard political reports and speeches on the committee’s achievements of leadership in building the officer corps and troops with firm political stance, high training quality and a high sense of combat readiness, as well as in building the unit’s regularity.
Addressing the event, Sr. Lt. Gen. Do Ba Ty, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) and Deputy Minister of National Defence, hailed the committee for its outcomes during the previous term and underlined the unit’s enhanced defence-security potential and posture, close cooperation with other units to ensure political security and social order at localities where it is stationed, and effective dealing with complicated defence-security situations.

The General asked Military Zone 2’s Party Committee and Command to concentrate on raising its combined strength, leading ability and combat ability; building the defence posture in combination with the people’s security posture with a focus on building a firm defensive area; resolutely defending national border sovereignty; creating a favourable environment for local socio-economic development; and contributing to strengthening solidarity and friendship with neighbouring countries.
* The same day, at the 6th Party Congress of the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Centre’s Party Committee, Sr. Lt. Gen. Truong Quang Khanh, Deputy Minister of National Defence, hailed the committee for its accomplishments and asked the unit to bring into play its potential, strength and to carry out more scientific studies, improve its- staff’s expertise and use of foreign languages as well as make technology available for defence-security missions.
The congress specified the committee’s orientations and goals in the next term; that the leadership and combat strength of the committee would be enhanced while accomplishing all missions, and developing the centre into a multi-sectorial international science and technology foundation and a reliable base for Vietnam-Russia cooperation.
* The same day, addressing the 9th Party Congress of the University of Politics’ Party Committee, Sr. Lt. Gen. Phuong Minh Hoa, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics, required the university’s party committee to grasp thoroughly education and training development strategy in the army in the 2011-2020 period, and to make valuable recommendations on suitable training programs to the Central Military Commission and the General Department of Politics.
The committee was also asked to renovate the university’s education and training programs, apply modern methods in teaching and raise its staff and trainees’ political stance and morality.
