At the meeting, General Luong Cuong, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA), informed the participants of the agenda of the 12th Party Central Committee’s 11th plenum and of their tasks at the plenum.
He underlined that over the past time, Party organizations within the Military Party Committee has been effectively carrying out the resolution on Party building and rectification adopted by the fourth plenum of the 12th National Party Congress; the Politburo's Directive No.5 on promoting the movement of “Studying and following President Ho Chi Minh's thought, morals, and lifestyle;” and the Party Central Committee’s Regulation No.08-QDi/TW requiring Party members and leaders to set examples in their units.
General Cuong urged the military officer-deputies to further discuss and contribute to the success of the plenum, particularly highlighting missions of building a strong Military Party Committee in politics, ideology, organization, and ethics, and a comprehensively strong military in term of politics.
Previously, Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Chief of the VPA’s General Staff and Deputy Defense Minister, presented outcomes of the entire military’s military-defense task performances in the first nine months of this year. Meanwhile, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, Deputy Defense Minister, gave a briefing on recent external defense activities.
Speaking at the event, General Lich praised the efforts of agencies and units throughout the entire military in conducting assigned missions since the beginning of 2019. He underlined that these achievements would contribute to raising the VPA’s prestige, thus deserving the trust of the Party, State, and people.
The Defense Minister emphasized that troops throughout the military would always show their absolute trust in the leadership of the Party and the management of the State. He added that the Military Party Committee should continue to uphold solidarity and unity to successfully direct the implementation of military-defense missions while also building a strong Military Party Committee in 2019.
General Lich held that the 12th Party Central Committee’s 11th plenum is an important political event for the Party and the country. At the plenum, a number of important issues will be discussed and approved. He then requested the military officer-deputies to promote a high sense of responsibility and contribute their comments at the meeting.
