During the inspection, delegates were briefed on the preparation of the field hospital over the past time for its deployment to a UN peacekeeping mission in late September this year.

So far, the preparation has basically been completed. The MND’s relevant agencies closely worked with each other to pack the equipment and machinery of the hospital as well as drew up plans on the transportation of personnel and equipment. They also studied the immigration procedures of South Sudan, anticipated arising problems, and seek best methods of conducting Party and political work for the hospital’s staff in a multilateral environment.

The relevant units also prepared for a ceremony to officially dispatch the hospital to South Sudan. This is considered an important milestone of the Vietnam People’s Army as it marks the first time Vietnam deploys a military unit to a foreign country for UN peacekeeping operations.
