PANO - Dinh The Huynh, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Chief of the Central Committee for Propaganda and Education talked with the press in the army on June 17th on the occasion of the 86th anniversary of the Vietnam’s Revolutionary Press (June 21st).

Mr. Huynh met the military journalists at the People’s Army Newspaper in Hanoi. He was accompanied by Lieutenant-General Nguyen Tuan Dung, Deputy Director of the General Politics Department.

Mr. Huynh highly appreciated the achievements made by the Vietnamese press in the army and pointed out some advantages and challenges that the press have to face in work.

 “The press in the army is always a key, regular, large and powerful force in contribution to the cause of the national press. They, side by side with armed force and people, have greatly supported the cause of the national salvation and construction”, he affirmed.

Mr. Huynh also emphasized that the press in the army needed to bring their tradition into full play along with enhancement of their influence in the society. Besides, they should actively concentrate on the task of external affair propaganda.

To this end, each officer and reporter must be better trained to improve their competence, profession and morality. Furthermore, they should conduct more fact-finding trips, so that their articles would be better and influential.

On behalf of the General Politics Department which directly manages the press in the army, Lieutenant-General Nguyen Tuan Dung, thanked the Party, the State and the Central Committee for Propaganda and Education for their support for the army’s press.

He also asked the press in the army to renovate themselves to meet the growing demands in the new situations and try their best to be active soldiers on the ideological front to fulfill their assigned tasks.

* In the afternoon of the same day, Lieutenant-General Ngo Xuan Lich, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Director of the General Politics Department visited and congratulated the People’s Army Newspaper.

At the reception, Major-General Le Phuc Nguyen, the Newspaper’s Editor-in-Chief, gave General Lich a briefing on the newspaper’s recent accomplishments, confirming that the newspaper would play a key role in the ideological front of the Party and the Army, partly orienting the thought of soldiers and people.

The Chief Editor also reported the newspaper’s big orientations and guidelines to meet with the new situations and demands in the work of propaganda to General Lich.

On his part, General Lich hailed the People’s Army Newspaper as closely reflecting many fields in society with its high quality articles. Besides, the newspaper has become a true and reliable companion of soldiers and people and be firmly trusted by the Party and the State’s leaders.

General Lich also recommended the newspaper’s leaders and reporters to better their capacity and skills to well fulfill thei assigned tasks in the future.
