During the visit, on behalf of the PAN, Major General Pham Van Huan, PAN Editor-in-Chief, introduced the guests to PAN’s publications and briefed them on the history and development of the newspaper.
He said the PAN has implemented all-round innovation and enjoyed vigorous development. The newspaper now has four main publications: the printed daily, the online editions in Vietnamese, English, Chinese, Lao and Khmer languages, the weekly newspaper “The Weekend”, the monthly magazine “Events and Witnesses” and the Video-Audio program.
As for its missions, the PAN lays stress on disseminating the guideline and policies of the Party and State of Vietnam, socio-economic and military-defense activities. The newspaper is also active in combating “peaceful evolution” plots of the hostile forces.
Implementing the open foreign policy of the Party and State, the PAN lays focus on spreading information about the world and other countries, especially the dissemination of information about Laos as well as the Vietnam-Laos special relations.
Apart from the above missions, the PAN also regularly carries out social work, calling on various organizations and individuals to support policy beneficiaries and needy people, and, each year, the PAN mobilized billions of VND for such work.
The guests expressed their delight when visiting the PAN, happy to see its development as well as its contribution to the country and the Vietnam-Laos relations. The Lao journalists stressed that the visit to Vietnam in general, and to the PAN in particular, has brought them invaluable practical lessons. They thanked the PAN for the warm reception.
