Ho Chi Minh City launches military semester program in 2017
PANO – The Ho Chi Minh municipal Border Guard Command, in association with the city’s Communist Youth Union, launched a military semester program in summer 2017, entitled “We learn to become border guards”, on June 26.
More than 100 students, aged from12 to 17, children of disadvantaged servicemen and servicewomen, youth union officials, and needy households in the city, enrolled in the course.
During the week-long military course, trainees will be provided with basic survival skills, military discipline, physical exercise, rescue skills, and practical operation.
Additionally, the students will also join other activities, such as writing diaries, writing letters to their families, and presenting gifts to “Red Flamboyant” volunteer soldiers and disadvantaged students.
The free program aimed to provide children with basic understanding of the army life and educate them of the national pride, solidarity, love and support in both their studies and life.
