Government Cipher Committee honored with noble title

Defense Minister General Phan Van Giang attended the event.

In his speech, Head of the Government Cipher Committee Lt. Gen. Vu Ngoc Thiem recalled the 80-year development of the cipher sector. He highlighted that during the resistance wars and struggles to defend the Fatherland, despite harsh conditions, the cipher sector pro-actively and creatively developed many Vietnamese-language cryptographic systems and techniques, ensuring information security. In peacetime, the sector has provided strategic advice on state management of cryptography, building a strong national cryptographic information system.

Over the past eight decades, the sector and the Government Cipher Committee have obtained outstanding achievements, worthy of being a trusted special force of the Party, State, and people.

Addressing the ceremony, Gen. Giang lauded the sector and the committee for their attainments and growth.

Noting growing challenges posed by global and regional developments and rapid advances in science and technology, the defense chief urged the cipher sector and the Government Cipher Committee to strictly implement higher level directives, improve quality strategic research and advisory role, enhance information dissemination to raise awareness of cryptographic security.

He also asked for scientific and technological breakthroughs, promotion of innovation, and digital transformation in cryptography; infrastructure modernization; development of domestic production capacity for cryptographic equipment and solutions; and building a contingent of politically steadfast, professionally skilled, and absolutely loyal officers and staff to meet the task requirements in the new era.
