PANO – The General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army on November 29th handed over newly-built and upgraded facilities at the ATK (former revolutionary headquarters) historical relic site in Dinh Hoa district, Thai Nguyen province, as part of activities to mark the 70th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army and 25th anniversary of the whole people’s defence festive day, and to respond to the “Army joining hands in building new rural areas” movement.

 

Addressing the hand over ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Do Ba Ty, Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Minister of National Defence, reaffirmed the great assistance of authorities and people of Dinh Hoa district to troops that greatly contributed to the feats of arms of the General Staff and traditions of the Vietnam People’s Army.

The general thanked to local party committee, authorities and people for helping the unit’s troops fulfill all missions during the anti-French war, as well as in the national protection and defence cause. He hoped that local committee, authorities, organs and people would cooperate with military units to promote dissemination activities on the traditions of the locality, the Vietnam People’s Army and the General Staff, as well as well manage and effectively promote the values of historical relics.

The general also asked businesses and departments of the unit to work closely with localities to promote gratitude activities and effectively carry out the movement, “Army joins hand to build new rural areas”, and take part in hunger elimination and poverty reduction, making contributions to local socio-economic development and defence-security.

 

In 2013 and 2014, the unit built seven gratitude houses for policy beneficiaries in Dinh Hoa district, upgraded the relic stele of the living and working place of General Hoang Van Thai, former Chief of the General Staff, in Dang Dau hamlet, Dinh Bien commune, improved a cultural house in Dang Dau hamlet, erected a relic stele at the place where the unit’s departments worked during the resistance war against French invaders from 1949 to 1954, and helped local people build rural roads.

These practical activities showed the sentiment, responsibility and gratitude of the unit’s troops to policy beneficiaries and revolutionary contributors.

On the occasion, the unit presented 20 gifts to local policy beneficiaries while Military Zone 1’s Command granted five computers to Dinh Hoa district’s Party Committee and authorities, and 20 gifts to policy beneficiaries.
